Safety is not enough
Every helmet from AGV has to surpass everything in terms of protection, performance and comfort. All standards, all expectations. Attention to even the smallest detail is an obsession that constantly pushes the boundaries of the definition of perfection.
This is why Extreme Safety was created. Das exklusive Entwicklungsprotokoll von AGV, das über Konstruktionsprozesse, Auswahl der Materialen und funktionales Design ein maximales Gleichgewicht zwischen allen Komponenten garantiert. The result exceeds the parameters required for certification because each helmet is subjected to tests that are much stricter than the requirements.
To set new safety standards and not to chase after them. That's how you become a legend.
Shock absorption
Impact protection is one of the strictest assessment parameters of the Extreme Safety Protocol.
AGV helmets are designed to exceed the results required by the homologations and offer an excellent level of safety. To guarantee this, AGV carries out tests that subject the helmets to much greater stress than required by the certification authorities.
The strictest standard stipulates an impact test at 6 different points at a speed of 7.5 metres per second. AGV helmets are tested at up to 15 different points, including the visor, at a speed of 8.5 m/s.
The result is protection that exceeds the required parameters for ECE homologation by up to 50% with regard to the measurement of the G* and HIC* values.
- *G - Is the measurement of the force that is transmitted to the head in the event of an impact. Indicates the shock absorption capacity of a helmet: the lower the value, the higher the shock absorption capacity of the helmet, which means that less force is transmitted to the rider's head.
- *HIC - Is the amount of force transmitted to the head during an impact, measured along an arc of time that simulates an actual fall. This test is used to assess the probability of possible brain damage after an impact. The lower the HIC value, the higher the level of protection provided by the helmet, resulting in increased safety for the rider's head.
Impact areas
To measure impact absorption behaviour, the world's most stringent standard requires a helmet to be tested at 6 defined points, without a visor, at a speed of 7.5 m/s.
The AGV Extreme Safety Protocol provides for a test at up to 15 points at a speed of 8.5 m/s.
This ensures that excellent protection is guaranteed everywhere and is not concentrated at certain points. Including visor.
Lateral protection
Our obsession is to develop visor mechanisms that are as small as possible. This is not a question of aesthetics.
The mechanics of the visor are an element that cannot be covered by the shell and EPS. It is therefore a particularly sensitive area in the event of an impact. At the same time, a very small mechanism makes it possible to fit a larger visor on the sides, thus increasing peripheral vision and the ability to see obstacles and potential dangers that may come within the motorbike's range of action.
AGV helmets have a visor mechanism that is 70% smaller than the average helmet on the market. Safety is not a detail. Every detail makes the difference.
Profile to protect the collarbone
AGV was born in the world of racing, where speed and extreme conditions make safety an even more important issue. To enable champions to surpass themselves and push the limits.
The special profile developed by AGV to protect the collarbone has been imitated by many in the racing world. This significantly reduces the risk of possible injuries to the collarbone caused by the helmet in the event of an impact. A solution developed on the racetrack that is available to all motorcyclists in search of perfection.
Face protection
The visors on AGV helmets are up to 4 times thicker than the average standard visor. They are an essential part of the helmet's protection system, a shield that provides protection in the event of an impact, not a sensitive point.
This is why they are not only robust, but also mounted on small and resistant mechanisms and equipped with a centralised locking system with a safety interlock that prevents the visor from coming off after impacts or falls. The same technology that is used in MotoGP™.
Safety in the form
In over 70 years of experience at the pinnacle of global competition, we have seen the difference that an aerodynamic helmet that is stable even at extreme speeds and minimises neck fatigue can make.
That's why we were the first to design helmets with shapes that cut through the air with aerodynamic spoilers. A performance upgrade that doesn't affect safety in the slightest: AGV's spoilers are designed to deflate or shatter in a controlled manner upon impact. This makes it possible to maintain a spherical shape and, if necessary, reduce the energy generated by the impact.
Ultravision - Peripheral vision
The unobstructed view allows absolute control. AGV removes the blinkers from the helmet.
The small size of the visor mechanisms and the shape of the shell eliminate a limitation common to the majority of helmets on the market. The design of AGV helmets allows peripheral vision of up to 190° width.
An exceptional result that makes it possible to see what is happening on the sides of the field of vision earlier and better: Obstacles, bends, vehicles, opponents. Control is safety and confidence.
Vertical vision
Racing drivers know it best of all: In the racing position, the eye must look upwards in order to maintain a view of the road. In this position, the upper edge of the helmet often forms a very dangerous boundary for the field of vision. Many use ingenious solutions to raise the helmet, which means that safety takes a back seat.
AGV helmets are designed to provide greater vertical visibility than the average helmet. It is optimised according to the riding position intended for the type of helmet, whether racing, sport or touring. A choice that favours performance and control to see safely beyond the obstacles.
Quality of vision
The visor is a lens with a curved surface that - as is the case with low-quality goggles - can create distortions that fatigue the brain and have a negative impact on performance.
The visors of AGV helmets are Optical Class 1, the highest possible level that guarantees the elimination of light reflections and distortions for excellent clarity. An Optical Class 1 visor allows our brain to receive correct visual information. Clear and deep vision means concentration, precision and speed of reaction.
Safety is also in the eyes.
Anti-fog performance
AGV's visors are equipped with Max Vision Pinlock® 120*, the latest development in anti-fog technology Pinlock® – the most powerful üever. Max Vision has no effect on the optical quality of AGV's large visors, guaranteeing maximum visibility in all conditions.
Absolute control over the road, always.
The visor is a shield
The visors of the latest generation of AGV helmets have been developed with a central metal locking mechanism. Thanks to the technology developed to protect MotoGP™ riders, the mechanism locks in the event of a fall, secures the visor to the helmet and minimises the risk of opening.
The visor protects like a shield.
Aerodynamic stability
The shape is determined by the wind.
The wedge-shaped chin is designed to reduce aerodynamic resistance and cut through the air. The aerodynamic spoilers stabilise the helmet at high speeds and deflect turbulence away from the rider. Touring, Sport, Racing: every AGV helmet is developed in the wind tunnel to be stable and to always give the rider safety in all its particularly extreme conditions of use.
Dynamic weight
By analysing the shapes in the wind tunnel, a helmet can be made lighter depending on the speed at which it moves through a medium such as air.
The Z-lift – the tendency to push up or down during movement – can be used to neutralise the static weight of a helmet so that it literally floats in the air.
AGV helmets are not only lightweight, but also utilise this principle to reduce neck fatigue while riding. For example, the K6 is already lighter at 90 km/h. At 160 km/h, the weight of the Pista GP RR is cancelled out.
Ventilation
Reinventing ventilation seemed impossible. We did it by paying attention to the speed at which the air flows through the helmet, not just the volume.
The front air vent, a feature of AGV helmets, utilises the area of the helmet most affected by the airflow to create a strong inlet pressure. The guiding elements on the chin guard of AGV racing helmets, such as the Pista GP RR, increase the amount of air entering the lower part of the helmet and improve comfort and ventilation even in extreme conditions.
Venturi effect
The Venturi effect provides a great deal of support for ventilation.
AGV helmets are designed to create a negative pressure in the area of the rear extractors, creating a swirl effect that exponentially increases the speed of passage from the inside to the outside of the helmet, improving thermal exchange.
Greater comfort
The interior of AGV helmets is made from the highest quality materials to ensure the smoothest and most comfortable fit possible. All AGV helmets are designed to absorb sweat and moisture quickly to ensure maximum comfort and focus on the road.
The leather or fabric outer profiles are water-repellent to prevent the inner coating from getting wet, even in heavy rain.
Material selection
It is not enough to select noble raw materials and modern components. Every part, every mechanism, every detail has been developed to give the best together with the others and maximise performance in all conditions. The use of carbon in the shells and titanium in the extra-light and highly resistant DD closures has made it possible to fit metal alloy ventilation slots. Heavier, but clearly more resistant than the classic plastic vents. This means you always get helmets with the lowest weight in their category.
This is the true essence of AGV. This is the true perfection of obsession.
Note
Please be aware, as long as nothing else is written in the item description:- All helmets will be delivered only with the ECE certification by default, even if it is shown differently.
- all helmets that have a visor will be delivered with a clear visor, even if it is shown differently.
