Macna Octavius, gloves

A short-cuffed glove with seamless Armax™ protection at the knuckles and a leather palm, suited for sporty riders in hot riding conditions.

The Octavius consists of stretchy, breathable elastan and goat leather at the back of the hand. Goat leather and synthetic nubuck are used at the palm, and the cuff is made of soft, comfy neoprene. An extra layer of leather is used to reinforce the finger tips.

Both the knuckles and palm are well protected by Macna's brand new Armax™ protectors. This construction leaves out the need for seams in critical areas, basically eliminating the weakest link, and thus greatly increasing your safety.

The Armax™ palm protector is fitted onto an extra layer of synthetic nubuck that reinforces the palm. Underneath the hard abrasion-resistant cover, Macna fitted soft and comfy temper foam to maintain comfort and provide additional impact absorption.

EVA padding is present at the thumb, which is rubber-like in its finish and flexibility and provides impact absorption. At the fingers you’ll find TPR protection with similar characteristics.

This glove features Macna's Ergothumb™ construction, meaning the thumb and index finger are made of one and the same panel of fabric. This reduces seams and pressure points whilst also giving a wrinkle-free look.

Heat-conductive fabric is fitted at the tips of the index fingers. Thanks to the Touch Tip, you’ll be able to operate touch screens without taking your gloves off.

Synthetic Nubuck

Brushed synthetic leather which is soft, flexible, breathable and has the look of real suede.

Goat leather

Goat leather is a strong leather with a rough texture. It is flexible, soft and durable.

Touch Tip

Touch screens dominate the modern day and age. Smartphones, tablets, and even more important for us motorcyclists: navigation systems. It is nice those screens work by touch, but that’s not really helpful when you’re wearing gloves.

That’s why Maca opts for heat-conductive fabric at the tips of the index fingers. These special Touch Tips enable the warmth of your finger to find its way through so that you can operate touch screens without having to take off your gloves.

Doubled palm

The palm is reinforced with an extra layer of fabric.

EVA Protection

R.I.S.C. EVA protection consists of rubber foam underneath the outer shell. Protection with EVA padding is flexible and resilient as it recovers quickly from compression.

EVA foam excels in absorbing vibrations and impact forces. It is also characterized by its good thermal insulation as well as low water-absorption.

Other advantages are its softness, non-toxicity, stress-crack resistance and resistance to ultraviolet radiation which makes EVA suitable for many purposes.

Ergothumb™

Ride long enough and eventually anything in an ‘unnatural’ position will start to hurt. In this case, Macna does'nt blame you, but your gear. Traditional gloves simply aren’t designed to grab the handlebar and maintain that position, sometimes for hours on end.

Ergothumb™ is an ergonomic construction that prevents wrinkling, pressure points, and pain, due to the thumb and index finger being made of one and the same panel of fabric. This creates a preformed glove that’s in its ‘natural’ position when you are riding.

Armax™

In order to keep improving the safety of Macna’s products and thus of motorcyclists, their designers are constantly being challenged. In this case, they were tasked to find and revise the notorious weakest link during a crash.

After analysing hundreds of suits and gloves caught in high-speed crashes, low speed crashes, high siders and low siders, the weakest link turned out to be anything but surprising: the seams.

What did surprise; seams can be found in all major impact zones like elbows, knees, and shoulders. Has the industry been holding things together with a piece of string? Yikes! This could use some macnafication.

Armax™ knuckle protector

This patented design is developed with safety as main focus. A hard abrasion resistant cover is mounted on a tough solid base plate at the knuckle area. Protecting your knuckles from impact and it can act as a slider. The seamless design makes the knuckle part less subjected to wear and tear.

Armax™ palm protector

Ergomically shaped, the palm protector acts as a sliding pad, but also spreads the force of impact, minimizing injury of the scaphoid bone. Macna’s Armax™ palm protector is attached to the glove with just two small holes and no seams. This way the leather stays more intact, keeping the glove as strong as possible.
