Macna Thandor, gloves

A full leather glove with a long cuff and carbon protection at the knuckles, suited for riders in hot riding conditions.

The Thandor consists of goat and cow leather, and the palm is reinforced with an extra layer to raise abrasion resistance. The panel between the thumb and back of the hand is perforated to increase breathability.

A solid, pre-formed protector made of carbon that provides impact absorption and abrasion resistance is fitted at the knuckles. The palm features a hard, abrasion-resistant RISC™ protector. At the palm, thumb, and back of the hand, Macna also fitted impact absorbent EVA padding.

This glove features our Ergothumb™ construction, meaning the thumb and index finger are made of one and the same panel of fabric. This reduces seams and pressure points whilst also giving a wrinkle-free look.

Heat-conductive fabric is fitted at the tips of the index fingers. Thanks to the Touch Tip, you’ll be able to operate touch screens without taking your gloves off.

The pinkie finger received some extra attention as it is prone to dislocating. Through our Finger Bridge, the pinkie finger is fixed to the ring finger and well protected.

To enable as much freedom of movement as possible, Macna's 30° Buckle™ is fitted at the wrist.

Goat leather

Goat leather is a strong leather with a rough texture. It is flexible, soft and durable.

Cow Leather

Cow leather is a strong and durable leather which retains its shape very well. It is strong, robust and has a fine regular structure.

Touch Tip

Touch screens dominate the modern day and age. Smartphones, tablets, and even more important for us motorcyclists: navigation systems. It is nice those screens work by touch, but that’s not really helpful when you’re wearing gloves.

That’s why Maca opts for heat-conductive fabric at the tips of the index fingers. These special Touch Tips enable the warmth of your finger to find its way through so that you can operate touch screens without having to take off your gloves.

Ergothumb™

Ride long enough and eventually anything in an ‘unnatural’ position will start to hurt. In this case, Macna does'nt blame you, but your gear. Traditional gloves simply aren’t designed to grab the handlebar and maintain that position, sometimes for hours on end.

Ergothumb™ is an ergonomic construction that prevents wrinkling, pressure points, and pain, due to the thumb and index finger being made of one and the same panel of fabric. This creates a preformed glove that’s in its ‘natural’ position when you are riding.

30° Buckle™

Aside from a closure at the cuff, long-cuffed gloves often also have a strap at the wrist. This strap is placed horizontally in most cases, which does tighten the glove, but also limits your wrist’s freedom of movement.

This complaint is easily solved by Macna’s 30° Buckle™, which enables the wrist and hand to move more freely. Thanks to the difference in placement of the buckle, freedom of movement and overall comfort are raised.

R.I.S.C.™ Protectors

A garment can be fitted with Level 1 or Level 2 protectors, depending on which segment you’re going for. Level 2 protectors are thicker and heavier than Level 1, but in turn they provide better protection. Both levels of RISC protectors are interchangeable and separately available, so you can easily scale down or up if you’d like to.

Finger Bridge

The most vulnerable digit on your hand. The little finger, or pinky finger if you will, is a notorious topic when it comes to developing a racing glove. It’s easily injured, and if you land on it at a wrong angle, it’s prone to dislocate. Operating on it is tricky and recovery can be a big long pain in the butt.

So when it comes to the pinky finger, you gotta be careful.

Now you probably think: “What’s the big deal? Just wrap that bad boy in 5 layers of leather and add some carbon fiber plates on top of it”, and you’re right - you’d have a virtually indestructable glove.

But nobody will wear it. Above all, racers want feedback and ease of motion. If the glove and fingers are too heavily reinforced, they lack moveability. It’s the eternal balance between safety and flexibility.

Now you can have both. In several years of working together with world championship riders, Macna innovated and maximized tearing- and abrasion resistance - with solutions you won’t find at competing brands - without sacrificing any moveability and feedback. Nobody can guarantee a 100% safety rate, but Macna is pretty sure they’ve got the safest pinky finger on the paddock now.

EVA Protection

R.I.S.C. EVA protection consists of rubber foam underneath the outer shell. Protection with EVA padding is flexible and resilient as it recovers quickly from compression.

EVA foam excels in absorbing vibrations and impact forces. It is also characterized by its good thermal insulation as well as low water-absorption.

Other advantages are its softness, non-toxicity, stress-crack resistance and resistance to ultraviolet radiation which makes EVA suitable for many purposes.
